Body Language
The Body Language project is visual research of the human form. It is artistic, scientific, and psychological work at once — as the project's main goal has always been the heroes and their journeys.
Our bodies can tell the stories of our lives: what we do, what we like, who we like, what we fear. How we spend years of our lives. What we think about ourselves.
Our scars, collection of stretch marks, pigmentation, wrinkles — all of it is there for a reason. And all of it makes us unique. Even how each person sits comfortably on the floor is special because every habit has an explanation and a story behind it, and we develop them over time. As a photographer, I am fascinated by those kinds of stories.

It is not easy to photograph naked bodies.
There is a thin line between artistic and scientific approach - one step too far, and you have a porn scene or a cadaver-like picturesque. So, every artist who works with nudes needs to find the right way to work with their heroes. For me, it was a combination of close-up details, natural movement and portraits that evoke deep and calm feelings.
I treated my heroes as friends and family members, creating for them the environment to be free and careless, without any erotic context. After all, is there anything more fun than dancing naked with a cat in an empty studio on a hot summer day?

Body Language is an unfinished project. I am still doing photoshoots and hope to have a collection of at least 40 people photographed for this research and then produce a book and a series of exhibitions. If you want to be a part of this work - please contact me via asha.komarovskaya@gmail.com
The project's first presentation took place in 2024, during the exhibition "Io sono come te" at OnArt Gallery (Florence, Italy).
